After you, my cold aunt

as part of the HUB Kultury KW residency program, the theme of the season was Hello Darkness My Old Friend. curated by Markus Öhrn.

After you, my cold aunt draws on the work of psychotherapists Jirina and Ferdinand Knobloch, developed in former Czechoslovakia behind the Iron Curtain. They questioned the false divide between inner experience and the external world, arguing that our skin does not mark the limits of our body.

The curtain becomes both connection and separation—worn, dirty, and unforgettable, steeped in fantasy and projection. It teases our curiosity, feeds nostalgia, and offers misleading clues. Behind the skin’s veil, in darkness, life unfolds: digestion, circulation, dreaming. Even sight depends on the eyelid’s thin curtain.

What, then, is our physicality in today’s world—diagnosed, labeled, commodified, individualized, and shamed?
